Bluebonnets are Pedestrian

Yesterday, I met my Botanical Buds, Rachel & Ann Marie, at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (missed you Debbie!). We arrived early to avoid spring breakers in search of the perfect instagram shots. Although bluebonnets are exciting this time of year, we didn’t get very excited about drawing it so we ventured out to the Arbor and found some amazing not so flashy/popular plants to consider for this week’s challenge.

The group decided on the purple/pink flower which according to iNaturalist is the Goldeneye Phlox. This is a native Texas flower endemic to the Edwards Plateau.

For extra credit, I’d also like to throw in the Mexican Plum (white flowering tree above) but this looks challenging, so we’ll see..
